Sapsan High-Speed Train Timetable
High-speed Sapsan trains are operated by Russian Railways and are a highly popular choice among travelers to commute between Moscow and St. Petersburg. Sapsans depart from and arrive to centrally-located train stations and therefore save time on the road both if compared to a bus ride or a flight to which additional time for getting to and from airports needs to be added.

General information
The Sapsan bullet train from Moscow to St. Petersburg travels at an average speed of 200-250 km/h (124-155 mi/h) and covers the distance of around 645 kilometers (400 miles) between Moscow and St. Petersburg in only about 4 hours.
Keep in mind that some Sapsans make several stops en route, others go non-stop, therefore the travel time may differ a bit. On weekdays, there are usually 12 daily departures of high-speed Sapsan trains from Moscow to St. Petersburg as well as 12 on the reverse St. Petersburg - Moscow route. On Saturdays and Sundays there are generally 14 departures both ways. Sapsan Schedule The first train from Moscow to St. Petersburg departs at 5:45 a.m. and the last one is at 9 p.m. In St. Petersburg the first train to Moscow leaves at 5:30 a.m. and the last departure is also at 9 p.m. |
